Sandhill Cranes

Every year an amazing phenomenon happens in central Nebraska. Approximately 700,000 Sandhill Cranes stop to hang out out on the Platte river between Grand Island and Kearney for about a month. Fossil records show that these amazing creatures have been stopping here to rest for around 9 million years!!!! Each spring, this massive group of cranes passes over Nebraska as they fly from their wintering grounds in northern Mexico to their summer destinations of Siberia, Alaska, and Northern Canada. No matter what I'm doing, I always finds a few days to hang out in the country and photograph some cranes. Here are some images from this year. Enjoy!
